4FunPoker Software Overview
The lobby is the first window you encounter when you log in to 4FunPoker.
You can learn and do a lot in that window.
Are You Logged In?
You can tell if you are logged in by what you see in the title bar (the horizontal bar across the top, in which you see the 4FunPoker logo and the three window control buttons). If it just reads 4FunPoker, as in the picture above, you are not logged in. You can use many of the lobby functions and you can observe games, but if you want to sit down in a game or access the cashier, you must log in.
When you first bring up the 4Fun Poker Client, you get prompted to log in. You start 4FunPoker by double-clicking the 4FunPoker icon on your desktop or by clicking on 4FunPoker in the Windows Start menu.
When you are logged in, the title bar changes to read "4FunPoker – Logged In As"–followed by your login.
If you are not currently logged in, you can log in by clicking on the Lobby drop-down menu and then clicking Login. You can also type Control+L.
Game Tabs
The eight tabs correspond to the eight forms of poker you can play. Click on the one that interests you to then see in the Games Window a list of the tables offered for that form. The selected tab is highlighted. You can choose from the following:
Hold'em: All hold’em games appear here, available at fixed limit stakes, pot limit, or no limit.
Omaha H/L: All Omaha high/lo (eight-or-better) games appear here, available at fixed limit stakes, pot limit, or no limit.
Omaha: All Omaha (high) games appear here, available at fixed limit stakes, pot limit, or no limit.
Stud H/L: All seven card stud high/lo (eight-or-better) games appear here, available at fixed limit stakes.
Stud: All seven card stud (high) games appear here, available at fixed limit stakes.
Tournaments: All tournaments (except sit-and-go tournaments) appear here, those in progress and those for which you can sign up.
Turbo Tourneys: All turbo tournaments (except sit-and-go tournaments) appear here, those in progress and those for which you can sign up.
Sit & Go: All sit-and-go tournaments appear here, those in progress and those you can join.
Games Window
The Games Window shows a list of tables. Click on the table you want to learn about or play in.
To play in a game, click Open Table. You can also double-click the game. A new window opens, the table you will be playing.
When you highlight a table in the Games Window, information about that table appears in the Players Window (described later).
You can arrange how the list appears in the Games Window in many ways. You control one of those ways with the money tabs beneath the window. You control everything else from within the Games Window.
The yellow headings above each vertical column allow you to control how the list of tables appear. That is, you determine the sorting order by clicking in one of those headings. You can always tell which sorting order was most recently specified by the appearance of a small arrow to the right of the field. That arrow points downward if the sorting order is descending (from largest to smallest or in reverse alphabetical order) and upward if the sorting order is ascending (from smallest to largest or in alphabetical order).
For example, the following specifies sorting by stakes from largest to smallest:
Sorting by stakes in descending order is the default. That is, whenever you first enter the lobby, by starting 4FunPoker, you see the tables in the Games Window sorted by stakes from largest to smallest, and you see a small downward-pointing arrow to the right of the Stakes field.
Click on any of the headings to sort on what is specified in that heading. The first time you click on any heading (except Table), the list sorts in descending order. Click again to sort in ascending order. If you sort in ascending order using any of the last five headings and some tables have no players, you must scroll down to see tables with players at them. You do this by pulling the gray slide bar on the right downwards. Click on the bar with the left mouse button and hold the button down while you move the slide.
Whenever you click on a heading, an arrow appears to the right of the heading name. Each click on the heading reverses the order of the sort. In the computer world this is called toggling. Each click on a heading toggles between descending and ascending order.
These are the headings:
Table: This column shows tables by name. The first time you click on this heading, the list sorts in alphabetical order. Click again to sort in reverse alphabetical order.
Stakes: Click this heading to sort on the size of game. If games at the same size are of more than one format, in descending sorting order, Fixed appears first, followed by PL and NL. (This is called a subsort.) In ascending sorting order, NL appears first, followed by PL and Fixed.
Limit: Click this heading to sort on the game format. In descending sorting order, all the Fixed limit games appear first, followed by PL and NL. In ascending sorting order, NL appears first, followed by PL and Fixed. Within each category, the subsort is on the size of game.
Plrs: Click this heading to sort on the number of players per game. If you’re interested, for example, in seeing only full games, then click this heading once to see all the full games at top. The subsort is on the size of game. If there are multiple games with the same number of players, then a further sub-subsort is on game format. Click the heading a second time if you’re interesting in finding all the short-handed games.
Wait: Click this heading to sort on the number of players waiting for each game. If there are a lot of full games and you want to add your name to the lists of those games with the fewest players waiting, this is a useful sort. If a table has empty seats, nothing appears in this column. If a game is full but no one is waiting, 0 appears in the column. If players are waiting, the number of players on the waiting list appears here.
Avg Pot: Click this heading to sort on average pot size. The results are an average of play dollar amounts over the last several hands. As other fields, the first time you click this heading, the list sorts in descending order. Click again to sort in ascending order.
Plr/Flp (Plr/4th): Click this heading to sort on the number of players per flop (or players who stay through fourth street in seven-card stud and seven-card stud high-low). When the games tab selection is a hold’em-type game, the heading is Plr/Flp. When the games tab selection is a stud game, the heading is Plr/4th. The results are expressed as a percentage, compared with those who started the hand. This number might indicate the relative liveliness of a game (amount of action), and something you could use to decide in which game to play. Some players like lots of action, and others don’t. This heading makes it easy to make your choice. You can couple these results with those showing the average pot size to help your decision.
H/hr: Click this heading to sort on the number of hands played per hour. You may be interested in the fastest games, in which case you would sort in descending order. If you prefer instead games at a more leisurely pace, sort in ascending order.
When the games tab selection is Tournaments, Sit & Go, or Turbo Tourneys, these are the headings:
ID: The identification tag associated with the specific tournament.
Date: The date for each tournament. Click this heading to sort by date. When you first click on one of the tournament tabs, the results are sorted in ascending order by date. That is, the arrow is in this field, pointing upward, which means that today’s tournaments appears at the bottom of the list, while those farthest away in time appear at the top. (This is the default sorting order. When you first click on one of the tournament tabs, the arrow is in the Date heading.) To see today’s tournaments at the top of the list, click this heading.
Game: The kind of game, that is one of Hold’em, Omaha H/L, Omaha, Stud H/L, or Stud. To group this list by game format, click this heading. To reverse the sort, click the heading again.
Limit: Click this heading to sort on the game format. In descending sorting order, all the Fixed limit games appear first, followed by PL and NL. In ascending sorting order, NL appears first, followed by PL and Fixed. Within each category, the subsort is on the size of game.
BuyIn: Click this heading to sort on the size of the buy-in. When there are multiple tournaments with the same buy-in, the subsort is on the kind of game, and the sub-subsort is on the limit.
Status: Click this heading to sort on the game status. The status of a game is one of the following: Announced, Registering, Running, Completed.
Plrs: Click this heading to sort on the number of players. When the games tab selection is Tournaments or Turbo Tourneys, this shows how many are currently signed up if the tournament. When the games tab selection is Sit & Go, this shows how many are currently seated and waiting for the table to fill if the tournament has not yet started or a full table if it has.
Tables and Players
Just to the left of the Games Window, a small window displays the number of available tables and the number of seated players.
Join Buttons
You can join the table that is highlighted in the Games Window by clicking the Open Table button to the left of the Players Window (just above the CASHIER button). Alternatively, you can always join a table by double-clicking the table in the Games Window.
When the table highlighted in the Games Window is full, a JOIN LIST button appears just beneath the OPEN TABLE button. Click the JOIN LIST button to join the waiting list for the selected table Your name immediately gets added to the end of the waiting list, and appears at the bottom of the WAITING LIST portion of the Players Window.
When you are on the waiting list for a particular game and that game is highlighted in the Games Window, the button that appears just beneath the OPEN TABLE button reads LEAVE LIST. If you change your mind about playing at the highlighted table, click LEAVE LIST. Your name is removed from the waiting list for that table and the button again reads JOIN LIST. The LEAVE LIST button appears only when the table to which it applies is highlighted in the Games Window—and then, of course, only if you are on the waiting list for that table.
Players Window
The Players Window shows information about the table highlighted in the Games Window. The bar at the top shows the name and the stakes of the game.
If there are no players waiting to be seated, the WAITING LIST button at the bottom of the window is grayed out, and the window just shows the seated players. If players are waiting, you can click on WAITING LIST to see information about those waiting.
When the waiting list is shown in the window, you can switch to the list of players by clicking on PLAYERS. When both buttons are available, you can tell which view is in the window because the appropriate button is “down,” that is, it has been pressed. You can also tell by the headings.
The players list has two headings, allowing you to sort the players by name and by their chip totals. When you first click on a table in the Games Window, the Players Window appears with the players sorted in alphabetical order, and the arrow at the right of the Player heading pointing upward.
To sort in reverse alphabetical order, click on the Player heading, and the arrow at the right points downward.
If you want to sort the list of players by stack size, click on the Chips heading. First the list sorts in ascending order. The next time you click the heading, the list sorts in descending order.
When you click on WAITING LIST, you see the list of players waiting to be seated. When you first click on WAITING LIST, the Players Window show the waiting players sorted by position on the list, with the first waiting player at the top of the list. The arrow is in the Pos (position) heading, pointing upward.
Click the heading again to see the list in reverse order, with the last waiting player at the top of the list.
You can also sort waiting players by name. Click on the Player heading once to see the players sorted in alphabetical order. The arrow at the right of the Player heading points upward.
To sort in reverse alphabetical order, click on the Player heading, and the arrow at the right points downward.
Cashier
The CASHIER button looks like a poker chip. It appears near the lower left. Click this button to bring up the 4Fun Cashier window, where you can view your play money balance and other information about your account.

The Menus
Five pull-down menus appear just below the title bar. They are:
- Lobby
- Account
- Options
- Requests
- Help
You can access these menus in two ways. Click on any of them to show its pull-down menu. Or hold down the Alt key while you press the letter of the item. For example, press Alt+L to display the Lobby pull-down menu. (As in other Windows dialogs, when you press the Alt key, the first letter of each menu becomes underlined. At that point, whichever key you press that corresponds with the first letter of any menu displays the corresponding pull-down menu. If you press any other key, the underlines go away from the menu names. And when the pull-down menu appears, you can access any item by pressing the key that corresponds to the underlined letter.)
The features of these menus are described in Special Features.
Leave the Game
Close the lobby and exit 4FunPoker by clicking the Windows Close button in the upper right.
You can also leave using the Exit item on the Lobby menu.
